SnagIt Enterprise Installation TechSmith Corporation Description ----------- The Enterprise Install mode is designed to assist administrators in the installation of SnagIt on multiple machines in an organization. This installation mode allows the system administrator to define a default configuration for SnagIt installations and distribute it to the target users. The Enterprise Install mode is comprised of three command line options: an Administrator Setup Option and an Import and Export Program Settings option. Administrator Setup Option -------------------------- The Enterprise Install mode is activated with a command line option as follows: X:\snagit\setup.exe /admin where X: is the drive where your SnagIt installation media is located. NOTE! The /admin option is ONLY available in the multi-user setup program. This will bring up the Enterprise Installation menu. Three types of installation are supported: 1. Place the SnagIt setup on a shared network location for users to access. When the user runs the setup program, the default configuration settings file (SNAGIT.REG) is copied to the user's installation directory for use by SnagIt. 2. Install SnagIt to a shared network location from which users will execute it. 3. Install SnagIt locally on the user's machine and distribute the configuration file manually. Once you determine what type(s) of installation you require, a regular SnagIt installation will be performed to allow customization of the program settings for your users. Import and Export Program Settings ---------------------------------- Both the single-user and the multi-user SNAGIT32.EXE will import the settings from a SNAGIT.REG file present in the same directory when run. It will automatically import ONLY on the first time SNAGIT32.EXE is run. To import settings thereafter, you need to use the command-line switch explained below. In order to support the Enterprise Installation functionality, two command-line options have been added to SNAGIT32.EXE to support import and export of the program registry configuration: /d [file] This option imports the registry settings from a file. The optional [file] can include the path and name of the file ( default is SNAGIT.REG in the current directory ) /e [file] This option exports the registry settings to a file. The optional [file] can include the path and name of the file ( default is SNAGIT.REG in the current directory ). EXAMPLE: snagit32.exe /e e:/snagit/snagit.reg These options can be used if you wish to manually import/export SnagIt registry settings. The format of the file used for the registry settings is compatible with the REGEDIT.EXE program from Windows. For further technical information, please contact: TechSmith Corporation P.O.
